Kuwait Investment Authority presents job vacancies for Kuwaiti Nationals to work at the World Bank for two years. The positions will be located at the World Bank Office in Washington D.C.
GENERAL CRITERIA

1. Financial Systems Unit, Finance and Private
Sector Development Vice Presidency
Joint Bank/IFC Unit
SELECTION CRITERIA
• Master’s degree in economics or finance.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in private sector, government, academia, or international agency with a focus on the financial sector.
• Working knowledge of financial databases (e.g. BankScope, Bloomberg, IFS, WDI, FSDI, Moody’s, Fitch, DataStream etc) to find and work with financial data is a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel with ability to conduct complex data analyses.
• Experience with statistical/econometric software packages such as Stata/Eviews, preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Takes initiative. Ability to see the big picture while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work flexibly, multi-task, and adjust to and prioritize evolving tasks.
• Excels at teamwork, finds the balance of when to consult and when to work independently, continuously shares information, and work in teams composed of individuals from varying technical levels, disciplines, and cultural background.
2. Financial and Private Sector Development
Vice Presidency
SELECTION CRITERIA
• Master’s Degree from a reputed university with at least two years of experience in the private sector, focusing on investment strategies, investment climate and business environment, value chain work and/or finance;
• and Rigorous analysis skills; capacity to conduct research;
• Proven ability to work in a team and intercultural environment, with minimal supervision;
• Hands-on and action-oriented approach;
• Expertise in all MS Office and internet related applications; familiarity with statistical tools and packages Knowledge of STATA would be a plus.
• Excellent command over English language including written, oral, presentation skills
• Additional language skill desirable: Arabic, French, Spanish;
• Enthusiasm for, and commitment to development work;
• Willing to travel to remote areas, including conflict affected areas if required;
• Field experience in developing countries a plus.
3. Africa Technical Families – Core Operations
Services - Financial Management (AFTFM)
SELECTION CRITERIA
• Masters degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, social sciences, international development or other fields related to development and 2 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Displays energy, enthusiasm, problem-solving skills, and ability to get things done.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong client orientation.
• Good written skills, including writing briefs and sections of papers.
• Full proficiency in relevant software applications especially MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Knowledge of web-publishing tools, Lotus Notes databases and the Business Warehouse is highly desirable.
• Good organizational capabilities and attention to detail; good editing and proofreading skills.
• Strong team work orientation, with ability to work effectively with a range of clients and colleagues.
• Flexibility and ability to handle changes in priorities and under pressure and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written in English.
4. Africa Region, Finance and Private Sector Development Unit
SELECTION CRITERIA
• Master’s Degree with at least two years of experience in financial market regionalization.
• Strong organizational, research, and oral presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work in a team and intercultural environment, with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on and action-oriented approach.
• Computer skills (Lotus Notes, Excel, Powerpoint).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Additional language skill desirable (French)
• Enthusiasm for, and commitment to development work;
• Willingness to travel in Africa
• Field experience in developing countries a plus.
5. Sustainable Development Department,
Transport Sector Unit (ECSS5), Europe and
Central Asia Region
SELECTION CRITERIA
• Masters degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or Business Administration with advanced-level courses in transport related topics, and two years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of transportation/traffic/road engineering is essential.
• Knowledge of economics and/or transport policy related issues is useful.
• Knowledge of basic work office computing applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases and statistical analyses) is highly desirable.
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Good analytical and communication skills; ability to analyze issues, diagnose problems and propose reliable solutions. Ability to communicate effectively with clients.
• Willingness to take full responsibility for work output and the of work program deliverables.
• Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
• The position calls for a highly motivated individual who is able to work with minimal supervision.
• A willingness to travel for about 90 days per calendar year is essential.
6. Europe and Central Asia Sustainable
Development Department (ECSSD) – Urban,
Water and Sanitation, and Disaster Management Unit
SELECTION CRITERIA
• At least a Master’s degree in engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience in the water supply and sanitation sector;
• Strong organizational, research, and oral presentation skills;
• Proven ability to work in a team and intercultural environment, with minimal supervision;
• Hands-on and action-oriented approach;
• Good oral and written communication skills in English;
• Enthusiasm for and commitment to development work;
• Willing to travel to remote areas in Central Asia and Caucasus;
• Field experience in developing and transitional countries, particularly Eastern Europe, a plus.
