On February 28th, 2005, the KIA had signed an agreement with Daimler to establish a training academy for the purpose of training Kuwaitis on the latest technologies in the automobile sector. KIA sought the assistance of its international partners who could assist in training and developing the skills of Kuwaitis as part of KIA’s support for national development.
Daimler contributed the capital for this Academy for three years, while the KIA pays monthly stipends of the trainees. The KIA firmly believes that the automobile sector is vital for Kuwait’s economy.
The Academy aims at providing Kuwaitis the skills to work in advanced automobile technology by joining a one year training program to achieve mechanical, technological as well as managerial skills.
The Academy started its training programs on January 7th, 2007 when it received its first group of Trainees.
The second group, consisting of 12 trainees, started their training program on October 21st, 2007 until their graduation on September 25th, 2008.
The third group, consisting of 10 trainee, started their training program on 12th , 2008 until their graduation on September 8th , 2009.
The Forth group, consisting of 6 trainees program on October 5th , 2009 until their graduation on september 8th , 2010.
The Fifth group, consisting of 7 trainees, started their training program on October 3rd , 2010 until their graduation on september 29th, 2011
The sixth group, consisting of 10 trainees, started their training program on October 2nd , 2011 until their graduation on September 27th,2012.
The Academy is currently processing the Seventh group of 11 trainees who started their training program on October 1st, 2012. The number of trainees joining the Academy since commencement is 64.
